Nil Desperandum Cottage

Nil-Desperandum is a 17th-century oak framed cottage in the quiet village of Middleton, Suffolk. The story behind the cottage's unusual name is that it was supposedly made from the timbers of the Nil-Desperandum ship, which was wrecked off the coast of Dunwich 400 years ago.

Containing original features with up-to-date amenities, the cottage sleeps 4 comfortably and is perfect for family holidays or couples wanting a romantic hideaway.

Close to the centre of the village but set well back from the road, Nil-Desperandum boasts a spacious front garden with a secluded private rear garden as well as parking space for 2 cars.

Internally, the newly-decorated accommodation is the perfect blend of modern living with historical charm thanks to its awe-inspiring timber beams, stone floor and traditional wood-burning stove. In the kitchen are integrated appliances, including a dishwasher, fridge, electric oven and gas hotplate. The ground floor twin bedroom has an en suite shower room with WC and basin, whilst to the first floor - accessed via a quaint and characteristic staircase - is a generous double bedroom which has a newly-installed principal bathroom with power shower, WC and hand basin. In the cottage's original wash houses located in the back garden, you will find a washing machine and small freezer.

The property also benefits from full gas central heating, Freesat flat-screen TV, WiFi and laundry facilities. Linen and towels are provided.

One well-behaved dog permitted by prior arrangement.
